THINK OF IT AS A SPORTS CAR FOR THE RUBICON
Grand Cherokee's two Power Tech engines, the 4.7L V8 and the 4.0L I-6, and its Quadra-Coil suspension give Grand Cherokee the kind of power and off-road prowess you would expect from the Jeep® brand, in addition to behaving quite nicely on the paved road.
The 4.7L Power Tech V8 kicks out 235 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque while delivering excellent fuel economy figures (EPA 15 city/19 highway) for a V8-equipped 4WD sport-utility vehicle. The V8's exceptional performance characteristics and broad rpm range are matched with the gear ratios of a 5-speed electronically controlled 5-45RFE (Rear-Wheel Drive Fully Electronic) transmission. To the driver, this means a strong initial surge, quick acceleration, hefty pulling power, precise shifts and quiet operation.
The standard 4.0L Power Tech I-6 engine supplies 195 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque and is teamed with a four-speed automatic transmission. |
Grand Cherokee's exclusive Quadra-CoilTM suspension provides unsurpassed on-road manners without compromising its exceptional off-road capability. A three-link rear suspension, widely spaced tie-rod points, coil springs at all four corners, and 16-inch wheels and tires provide a comfortable on-road ride. (17-inch wheels and tires with the Special Appearance Group on Laredo and Limited.) Off-road, solid front and rear axles supply constant ground clearance, while optimized steering geometry and precise steering response communicate surface differences accurately to the driver.
Grand Cherokee's safety features include standard four-wheel disc antilock brakes featuring large brake rotors, dual-piston front brake calipers and electronic brake distribution - helping Grand Cherokee bring you to a halt quickly and under control.
